Hello Powerful People!

Happy new month! I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. What a blessing it is to see another week and to be graced with the opportunity to navigate through our fears as we accomplish our goals.

As we’re continuing with our “I AM” series, I want you to affirm that you are an overcomer and that you won’t allow fear to stop you.

I should begin by mentioning I view fear a lot differently than a lot of coaches. I don’t believe that fear has to be done away with in order to have a life of ease and flow.  Fear is a human emotion that is part of life, however, you can become more aware of fear and its impact on your choices. From that awareness, you can implement strategies to support you with not stopping. You are then in a better position to achieve our dreams.

If not managed properly, fear can cause you to miss opportunities, relationships, and experiences.

Why? It’s because fear gives you a

false

sense

of

reality.

Fear can tell you that you will always fail, you will never succeed in relationships, and you will never be good enough (among other things). Let’s explore three strategies to handle fear in a healthy way:

1. Counter Thoughts of Despair

It can be so easy to think fearful thoughts and dwell on them. Beginning today, I want you to practice countering negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Fixate on the positive thoughts until they become easy to bring to mind. For example, if the thought occurs to you “I will never be successful in business”, immediately counter that thought by saying “Whatever I put my hands to succeeds.”

Words are powerful.

2. Never Assume

Fear often finds a home in the atmosphere of assumption. Here’s what I mean. You may stop yourself from applying for a job or beginning a friendship because you assume the other party will deem you unworthy. Can you imagine this is a story that you’ve made up? Ask yourself “Is this true or have I made up this story?”
Woooo weeeee! Has that simple question helped me and my clients!  Oftentimes our beliefs about what’s possible or impossible are unfounded. Pursue what you want in life and never assume the outcome.

Fear assumes but faith takes action.

3. Do It Anyway

I don’t know what your “it” is, but chances are you will have to do “it” while feeling fear. There will never be a perfect time to move to another state, get married, apply for that job, change careers, or go back to school.
The greatest feats in life were accomplished while feeling fear. It is normal to have angst when taking a leap in life, however, even amid fear, be determined to work on your dreams – no matter what it takes.

Done is better than perfect.

Even in times when you don’t know what else to say to your mind, tell it “I AM an Overcomer.” Repeat it until your mind, heart and actions begin to align. Don’t look at being an overcomer to mean that you’ll never be afraid. Fear is inevitable. Instead, come from a new perspective and allow it to mean you will manage your fear better and work to operate in faith.

To Your Abundant Life,

Sophia
